Jim Compton

Jim Compton (Saulteaux) also known as Sageeway Gheeshick, the Ojibwa name for “Rising Day”.

Working in Winnipeg with Jeremy Torrie, a young Indigenous filmmaker, their company produced the fascinating, “Warrior Spirits” series, awakening us to the message that, universally, Indigenous people carry the warrior spirit, and that its potential is now being revitalized throughout the world.

In 2000 Jim was appointed Program Director of the world's first National Indigenous television network – the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network - APTN. Jim's contribution is significant and lasting and APTN continues to grow, showcasing the lives and languages and history and culture and dreams of Aboriginal people throughout Canada and the world.
