Tracey Jack wears her love of her people on her sleeve.
In addition to her filmmaking, she manages programs at the En’Owkin Learning Centre, raises funds for arts programs and constantly searches for ways to improve the status quo.
In her documentaries, Tracey Jack tackles subjects that bring her face to face with injustice, abuse, and the harsh realities people still live with. There is much cause for anger, much cause for despair. Tracey shows the dark side but always with the intent of moving beyond. She remembers the words her grandmother once calmed her with. As a younger Tracey railed against the ignorant and the oppressors, her grandmother quietly pointed out, “They’re only people”.
