Doug Cuthand (Cree) is an award-winning producer, writer, director, journalist, and owner/operator of Blue Hill Productions.

This episode of “Storytellers in Motion” explores Doug’s literary and documentary work. After a brief sojourn in politics; Doug found that he could not stay away from storytelling, so he decided to venture into the art of motion pictures. His efforts were met with instant success, and he received numerous awards as a journalist and television producer.

With a reputation for never straying far from his search for the truth, Doug was given the name, “Mr. Tapwe” by Cree elders. He believes that Indigenous people have their own stories and they are telling them in their own way, reflecting their own culture, their own way of life, and their unique world view.
